Shot Blasting

Shot blasting or grit blasting is the process in which an abrasive material is forced through a jet nozzle using compressed air pressure. This creates a fast and effective way of cleaning or preparing surfaces such as gates & railings for recoating & refurbishment using many different material types. With the use of special attachments on to the nozzle, we can even carry out internally cleaning gas cylinders of all sizes.

We can use our shot blasting rooms to accomodate various sized items to carry out motorbike refurbishment, car chassis refurbishment, alloy wheel refurbishment and motorbike wheels refurbishment.

Our Blasting facilities can be adapted to suit a wide variety of work and contain:-

  • Shot blast building 60’ x 30’ (18m x 9m)
  • Automatic wheelabrator facility
  • Blast rooms for smaller items

Blasting media are employed to suit the customers requirements these include:-

  • Metallic
  • Mineral
  • Aluminium Oxide
  • Stone Dust

Surface Preparation Standards

There are several National and International Standards, which define the visual assessment of surface cleanliness of steel before application of paint and related products.

The equivalence of the Standards is summarised in the following table:

Special Gas Cylinder Refurbishment

We are able to use our shot blasting facilities to start the process of refurbishing special gas cylinders to make them look like new again. With our shot blasting room, we can blast more than one cylinder at a time and we are able to blast the inside and outside of each cylinder to remove paint, rust and other contaminations so the surfaces are prepared for powder coating, anti-corrosion coatings or other coating methods.
